HIGHLIGHTS
This is an event considered to have happened about 4000 years ago. People known as Man Marechh inhabited different parts of Nirmand like Sharsah, Margi, Kathed, Katahar, Nohnu, Kanda, Katmore, Ladhagi, Buchhair. They were like demons and did not believe in gods and goddesses. There was a female demon named Shoopan. She possessed great magical powers and she could shrink or expand her body to a great extent. She used to disturb the devtas and tease them. Once three devtas viz. Chambhu Urtu, Chachhahi Nag and Kui Kanda Nag jointly planned to kill her. When Shoopan came to know about this plan, she expanded her body so that her head lay in village Chanach, middle part of her body in Deuridhar (1 KM ahead from there) and legs in Ghatoo, 3 kms away. Chachhahi Nag held her head and twisted it. Chambhu urtu sat on her chest and Kui Kunda Nag tore apart her legs. Thus she was killed. Today, there is a place of Chachhahi Chajai Nag, a temple of Chambhu devta in Deuri Dhar and a temple and storehouse of Kui Kunda Nag in Ghaatu. The devta has twelve mohras.
